County Championships - Sessions 7 & 8

Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, Weston-super-Mare, Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th March 2010

 

This years County Championships drew to a close on Sunday evening following another hectic weekend for the Bath Dolphin Squad swimmers. The weekends action began with the 50m events which gave the sprinters their opportunity to shine. The early session saw swimmers of 12 years and under take to the pool and their efforts were rewarded by winning no fewer than nine top three medals. These medals were awarded to Izzy McNab, Herbie Johnson, Jasper Lye, Tom Smith (4nr) & Max Granger (2nr).

 

In the later session the older swimmers picked up a further 5 medals to make this the most successful day the club has enjoyed at the counties for some time. The medal winners from the afternoon were Sophie Purnell (2nr), Rebecca Cornish & Ryan Gay (2nr)

 

On a mammoth Sunday session (punctuated by a fire alarm evacuation) the attention turned to the comparatively longer distance events of 200m freestyle and 200m IM. Whilst the medal return didn’t meet the highs of the previous day the quality of swimming from the squad was again self evident as the majority of swims resulted in new PB’s. Medal winners from the Sunday session were Rosie Granger and Tom Smith (2nr).
