Southern Junior League Round 2 Results

Keynsham Leisure Centre, Saturday 22nd May 2010

The draw for the second round of the Southern Junior League determined that the Dolphins would host their gala in the somewhat unfamiliar surroundings of Keynsham Leisure Centre and given the line up of quality opposition the team were drawn to face it always looked as though it promised to be a tough night.

This proved to be the case as across all age groups the Dolphin swimmers struggled to pick up points with any degree of consistency. All in all it proved to be a difficult night for the squad and despite their best efforts (including three new Bath Dolphin SJL records) they fell some way short at the foot of the overall points table. The overall final gala positions were 1st place Ferndown Swimming Club 239 points, 2nd place Swindon SX3 A 202 points, 3rd place Bournemouth Dolphins 183 points, 4th place Severnside Tritons A 169 points, 5th place Soundwell 124 points & 6th place Bath Dolphin 105 points.

Whilst recent performances from both the junior and senior squads have shown that there is a resurgent momentum building within the club the result from the weekend provided a sharp reminder that in order to compete with the better teams within the League there is still some way to go.

New individual SJL records were set by Izzy McNab (10yr girls 50m butterfly) and Jasper Lye (11yr boys 50m breaststroke), whilst the 10 yr girls medley relay team (Rosie Granger, Natasha Thornton, Izzy McNab and Lottie Perkins) also set a new best time.
