News & Information
ASASW Sprints
GL1 Centre Gloucester, Sunday 4th July 2010
The Graham Cutting gala obviously served as the ideal warm up for five members of the Bath Dolphin squad (Jasper Lye, Max Granger, Rachel Li, Rebecca Cornish & Ryan Gay) who took a short journey northbound on the M5 to compete at the ASASW Sprint Meeting. Similar in format to the Graham Cutting, the sprint gala requires the swimmers to race over a distance of 50m in all four strokes but comes with the added bonus of a 100m individual medley. Individual race medals are not awarded but the fina points achieved in each of the five races are totalled to determine the medal winners for each age group category. Consequently a good placing at the gala is dependant upon consistency across all the strokes.
This year all the Dolphin swimmers were successful in gaining top eight placings in the overall standings with Rebecca Cornish being the highest placed finisher from the Club. Rebecca finished the day in second place in the female 17 years category. Ryan Gay also made it to the podium picking up the bronze medal in his age category. In their respective age groups Jasper Lye finished with a share of 5th position, Max Granger finished joint 6th and Rachel Li gained 7th.
