New Records For Luke at Nationals
Sunderland Aquatic Centre, Wednesday 18th & Friday 20th August
Many congratulations go out to Luke Ladbrooke who was competing this week (together with many of the big guns of British Swimming) at the British Gas ASA National Championships in Sunderland. In addition to being one of the premier events in the domestic swimming calendar, this year the championships provided the final opportunity for the country's elite swimmers to secure a place on the plane to Delhi as part of the Commonwealth Games squad.
In this exalted company the Dolphin swimmer produced two fantastic performances. Wednesday saw Luke compete in his first event, the 50m backstroke, where he duly knocked a whopping 0.30 seconds off his entry time. Stopping the clock at 27.90 Luke set a new County record for Worcestershire (his home stamping ground) and knocked 0.28 seconds of the former mark.
On Friday Luke’s attentions turned to the 100m backstroke where he again produced another impressive swim recording a time of 58.95.
Unsurprisingly both times are new Bath Dolphin records and are just reward for the dedication to training that Luke has shown since his arrival at the club. Well done Luke.
