National Arena League Round 3
Saturday 10th December 2011, Millfield School, Street
Bath Dolphin’s squad swimmers rounded off this years Arena National League campaign with another impressive performance at the Division One promotion gala held at Millfield School in Street. Congratulations are due to the team who, without exception, delivered a result for which they can all be justifiably proud.
The League rules dictate that the top eight teams in Division One compete in the final promotion gala which ensured that the overall standard of competition was fierce and given the strength of the opposition throughout the programme, event wins were in short supply and every point was hard earned.
During the night there were four event wins for the team all of which came in individual events. Izzy McNab was in fine form, winning both her individual events (11 year girls 50m butterfly & 50m breaststroke). The other wins both came in the 100m backstroke with Tom Smith winning the 15 year boys and Luke Ladrooke winning the men’s open category.
There were four new Bath Dolphin National League Records achieved on the night. These were recorded by Izzy McNab in her butterfly, Tom Smith in the 100m freestyle, the 11 year girls medley relay team (Rosie Granger, Izzy McNab, Laura McNab & Lottie Perkins) and the mens open freestyle relay team (Ian Moore, Matt Purnell, Liam O’Sullivan, Sam Purnell, Ryan Gay & Luke Ladbrooke).
Given that the gala was swum as a long course gala there are two sets of results listed below. The first set of results show the actual (long course) timings recorded at the event. The second set of results are converted short course times which have been determined by the use of standard comparative tables. It is the converted times that have been used to update the Dolphin National League Records which can be accessed using the third hyperlink.
In the final analysis Bath Dolphin finished in 5th place in the League. This result is a credit to all involved with the club and further demonstrates the continued resurgence at Dolphins. Worth raising a glass to over the holiday period!
