Alkmaar Trophy Holders for Performance During 2009
This year’s winners are Rebecca Harnden and Alex Joy who were recently presented with their trophies. Congratulations to them both!
The following comments have been prepared by Club Coach Phil Brake in recognition of their achievements.
Rebecca Harnden
This years winner of the Alkmaar trophy for females is Rebecca Harnden. Rebecca has shown a marked improvement in her technique & times this year which is solely down to her attitude and commitment both to her training and racing. She regularly demonstrates her commitment by rising at 5.30am each Saturday to travel in to Bath for early morning training. Well done Rebecca, a worthy winner.
Alex Joy
The winner of the male Alkmaar trophy for 2009 is Alex Joy. Alex had an illness during the year which necessitated me in banning him from training, because despite his illness he was still looking to train. Far from dampening his love of swimming, Alex came back more determined and is showing fantastic progress now he is back to full fitness. He too is a weekend early riser who like Rebecca gets up at 5.30am to travel to Bath for early training. Congratulations Alex.
