April 09 SOTM

Swimmer of the Month Awards for April

For the girls the award this month goes to Olivia Locke. Olivia is one of our long standing members, joining the squad back in October 2007, and it is a reflection of all her hard work and commitment that this is the second time she has won the award. The remarkable progress of the past few months culminated in great swims in Round 1 of the Southern Junior League (SJL) - first place as part of the medley relay team and a brilliant swim in the individual breaststroke where Olivia broke the BDSC SJL record (and possibly the BDSC all time record but this has yet to be confirmed). We think there is still more to come Olivia. A thoroughly deserved winner for April. Well done Olivia and best of luck for SJL Round 2.

For April the boy swimmer of the month goes to… wait for it… a boy! Rueben Cleghorn is the worthy recipient this time round and the award reflects the effort and obvious progress that Rueben has shown in recent months. A great swim in the freestyle relay team saw Rueben and his three team mates break the BDSC SJL record. Well done guys. We’ll forget that start in your individual event Rueben - not to be repeated in Round 2 thank you. Well done Rueben and keep it up. Best of luck for SJL Round 2.

Very well done to all those who swam in SJL Round 1, particularly those for whom it was your first inter club event. It’s not really that bad is it? Round 2 will be a whole lot tougher so you will all need to be at your very, very best. Best of luck. Go for it!
