ASA South West Sprints Results
GL1 Gloucester, Sunday 28th June 2009
Open to swimmers who competed at the ASASW Youth and Age Group Championships but missed out on National qualification, the sprint event offers competitive racing at a quality eight lane, short course venue.
The format of the event sees all swimmers compete over a distance of 50m in each of the four strokes together with a 100m individual medley, with the Bagcat/GB points gained by the swimmers in the five races being totalled to establish the overall placings for each age group category.
This year Bath Dolphin fielded a team of six swimmers (Jasper Lye, Tom Smith, Rachel Li, Ryan Gay – substituting for Nick Parks who was sidelined with injury, Rebecca Cornish and Liam O’Sullivan) who collectively rose to the occasion securing a total of nineteen PB’s from their thirty swims.
In particular Tom Smith enjoyed success as he finished the day as overall winner of the 12 year boys age group category, having secured one third place (butterfly), one second place (breaststroke) and three first place finishes (freestyle, backstroke & IM) in his age category. Other top three event placings were gained by Ryan Gay (breaststroke) and Rebecca Cornish (backstroke).
