National Arena Swimming League Round 3

Saturday 12th December, Hutton Moor Leisure Centre, WSM

As expected the final gala held at Weston-super-Mare proved to be fiercely competitive as the top eight teams battled to secure maximum points in their search for promotion to the first division. Rising to the challenge the squad swimmers once again produced a fantastic display of team swimming for which they can all be deservedly proud. In total the team secured 24 top three placings (12 of which were wins) from the 50 event gala. The evening also saw another 9 Bath Dolphin National League records broken.

A limited number of points updates throughout the evening heightened the tension for the supporters of all the teams and the announcement prior to the relay events showed that with Seagulls secure in top spot Bath Dolphins were in a close tussle with Bodmin Dragons for second place. Despite yet another spirited performance in the relays the Bath Dolphin squad agonisingly missed out on second spot by the narrowest of margins but were comfortable winners of the third place pendant.

The final gala positions were as follows:- 1st Christchurch & New Milton 292 points, 2nd Bodmin Dragons 256 points, 3rd Bath Dolphin 255 points, 4th Salisbury Stingrays 231 points, 5th Paignton  209 points, 6th Swindon SX3B 206 points, 7th Bournemouth Dolphins B 194 points & 8th Dawlish 156 points.
