Emily Walton & Herbie Johnson
The following comments were prepared by the coaches in recognition of their achievements
Emily Walton
Emily Walton was the recipient of this year's Alkmaar Trophy. Earlier this year she was still in the teaching groups and I was asked to assess her with a view to her joining the squad. At that time I felt she wasn't quite ready, but Liam kept on at me telling me how she always lead the lane, always turned up on time for her teaching and always listened. I had another look a few weeks after and decided I would give her a chance. Since she moved in, she has always pushed to lead her lane, I have moved her 4 times to faster lanes and she is now 1st / 2nd in her latest lane. She never misses training, pushes herself to her limits and doesn't accept 2nd best.

Herbie Johnson
Herbie joined the junior squad a couple of years ago and made quiet, steady progress in all strokes until this year when he has developed enormously and enjoyed great results in a number of galas and recently won the squad "Swimmer of the month" award. His strength at the moment lies in his breaststroke and this has helped the 9 year old boys to notable success in the Medley Relays. Herbie's attitude during training has always been first class, putting in 100% effort and has always been a pleasure to teach. Herbie has now progressed up to Phil's group where we are sure he will continue to grow and develop and we look forward to fast times at forthcoming galas. Well done Herbie a huge trophy for a year of huge improvement!!
